Job Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to be responsible for defining and driving the company's global pipeline portfolio strategy to maximize growth, profitability, and long-term competitiveness. The role leads portfolio planning, product selection, lifecycle management, and pipeline evaluation while ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and market opportunities. Working closely with Commercial, Product Strategy Management, Business Development, R&D, Regulatory Affairs, and Finance. The Head of Portfolio provides strategic direction and governance across the portfolio lifecycle
Duties & Responsibilities:
Portfolio Strategy & Planning
- Develop and execute the global pipeline portfolio strategy aligned with business objectives and therapeutic priorities.
- Identify growth opportunities through new product selection, lifecycle management and market expansion.
- Lead portfolio prioritization, diversification, and long-term planning activities
- Provide strategic recommendations based on market trends, competitive intelligence, and pipeline opportunities.
- Drive continuous improvement of portfolio management processes, tools, and capabilities.
- Be on top of competitive intelligence data collection
- Define and implement competitive intelligence information for database implementation and dashboard creation
- Drive automation and AI driven approach in innovator and competitor data collection and strategic analysis
Pipeline Portfolio Analysis & Performance Management
- Monitor pipeline portfolio performance, profitability, market positioning, and lifecycle progression.
- Assess pipeline portfolio health across regions and recommend optimization actions.
- Prepare pipeline portfolio reviews, business insights, and strategic reports for senior leadership.
- Identify risks and opportunities impacting pipeline portfolio value.
- Develop and implement respective dashboards on pipeline opportunities for next 10-15 years
Pipeline Evaluation & Business Development
- Evaluate new product opportunities, licensing deals, partnerships, and acquisitions.
- Assess strategic fit, market attractiveness, financial viability, and risk profiles.
- Lead business case development and investment recommendations.
- Improve continuously business calculation principles and models used, maximize and implement level of automation of business case calculation
- Drive automation and AI driven approach in portfolio pipeline evaluation
- Collaborate with Product Strategy Management, Commercial, R&D, Regulatory Affairs, and Business Development teams to maximize pipeline value.
Pipeline Portfolio Governance & Stakeholder Management
- Establish and lead pipeline portfolio governance frameworks and prioritization processes.
- Facilitate cross-functional decision-making and ensure alignment with Commercial and Finance functions.
- Support resource allocation and portfolio investment decisions.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners, and key opinion leaders.
People Leadership & Capability Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a Portfolio team, fostering high performance and accountability
- Support recruitment, workforce planning, and succession development within the portfolio function
- Build strong analytical and strategic capabilities within the team
- Drive a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making
- Champion best practices, tools, and digital solutions in portfolio management
Qualifications and Skills:
- Master's degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Life Sciences, or another relevant scientific field.
- PhD in Pharmaceutical Management, Project Management, Business Administration, or related discipline will be considered an advantage.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience within the pharmaceutical industry, including experience in project management, portfolio management, or cross-functional coordination. Previous experience in coordinating multiple projects simultaneously is required.
- 8+ years of specialised or cumulative experience in complex roles.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams and manage stakeholder expectations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present ideas clearly, influence stakeholders, and prepare professional reports and documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex situations, make sound decisions, and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- High attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, quality-driven environment.
- Full professional proficiency in English (written and spoken).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience working with digital business systems and reporting tools.
