Job Description: 

 

We are looking for:

A highly skilled and experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead the day-to-day operations of manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, EHS and Procurement / Sourcing of the Pharmaceutical company, ensuring full compliance with GMP standards, while co-championing SAP implementation.  The COO is responsible for ensuring efficiency, quality and compliance in all aspects of the company’s Operations.  The COO is responsible for the design and effective execution of the company’s ambitious growth / expansion / capital investment agenda.  The COO, as part of the Executive Leadership team, plays a critical leadership role in executing the company’s strategic plan and driving continuous improvement and innovation in alignment with regulatory and industry standards.
 

As a Chief Operating Officer (COO), you will:

 

Operational Leadership
•    Lead and manage manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, EHS, Procurement / Strategic Sourcing and project management functions.
•    Ensure seamless execution of operational strategies that support business goals and regulatory requirements / compliance with Quality standards.
•    Maintain, implement and ensure continuous improvement and compliance with best practices in GMP manufacturing, operational excellence (Lean, Six Sigma), and digital transformation.  Ensure effective collaboration with Regulatory, Quality and R&D / Portfolio functions.
•    Establish and execute an effective company-wide S&OP process.
•    Champion the SAP S4/H implementation for the respective functions to ensure a smooth implementation and transition to SAP S4/H operations.
•    Establish effective monitoring of Operations/Supply Chain KPIs and ensure a robust Capex process / implementation to effectively deliver on the ambitious Capex investment agenda.

Strategic Execution
•    Collaborate with the CEO, CFO and executive team to develop and execute strategic initiatives.
•    Translate strategic objectives into actionable plans and KPIs for operational units.
•    Oversee capacity planning, CapEx projects, and expansion programs.

Performance & Compliance
•    Monitor and drive key performance indicators (KPIs) across departments.
•    Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and industry standards.
•    Lead and support audits and inspections by authorities and clients.

People Management & Culture
•    Foster a performance-driven, safety-oriented, and collaborative culture.
•    Develop and mentor senior operational leaders and ensure strong talent pipelines.
•    Champion employee engagement, training, and succession planning.

Financial Oversight
•    Manage budgets for operational departments and contribute to overall cost efficiency.
•    Optimise resource allocation and cost-effectiveness across the supply chain and production.
•    Support pricing, costing, and margin analysis for commercial decision-making.

External & Cross-functional Collaboration
•    Work closely with R&D, regulatory affairs, commercial, and quality leadership.
•    Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, CMOs, logistics partners, and regulatory bodies.


 What you will bring:

 

Education:
•    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field.
•    MBA or executive education in leadership/operations is an advantage.

Required:
•    Proven experience (minimum 10 years) in senior operational leadership roles within the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry.
•    Deep understanding of GMP manufacturing, global regulatory environments, and quality systems.
•    Demonstrated success in managing complex operations across multiple sites or regions.

Preferred:
•    Experience in solid oral.
•    International or site/multi-site management experience.
•    Advanced knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or digital manufacturing tools.
•    Experience operating in SAP environment, implementation experience is a plus.
